Abstract art is an art form that has become increasingly popular over the past century. This art form deviates from traditional art forms such as painting and sculpture because it does not attempt to represent anything in the real world. Instead, abstract art focuses on form, color and composition to create a unique visual experience.
A look back
Modern abstract art has its origins in the first wave of abstract art that emerged in the 20th century, when artists such as Kazimir Malevich, Piet Mondrian, and Jackson Pollock began experimenting with deviating from traditional representations of reality. These artists used geometric shapes, pure colors and improvised patterns to create their works, and their innovative style inspired many other artists to follow in their footsteps.
Styles in abstract art
Today, there are many different styles of abstract art, and artists often choose to combine different elements from these styles to create their own unique style. Some artists focus on creating soft, organic shapes while others prefer to use geometric shapes and clean lines. Color is often used in an abstract way, with the artist using color as part of the composition rather than attempting to depict reality.
Different interpretations
One of the most fascinating things about abstract art is that it is up to the viewer to interpret what they see. While some people may see a particular image or sentence in a work, others may see something completely different. This gives abstract art an extra dimension, as there is no right or wrong way to interpret a work.
Abstract art can be challenging for those used to more traditional art, but it can also be a very rewarding experience. By focusing on form, color and composition rather than trying to represent reality, abstract art can provide a unique and personal visual experience that no other art form can offer.
